John H. Romer, M.D.

Dr. Romer joined Radiology of Huntsville in 1981. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology, and holds Certificates of Added Qualification in both Neuroradiology and Vascular/Interventional. Dr. Romer earned a B.A. in Biology at Stetson University in Florida and his M.D. in 1977 at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his internship and radiology residency at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation. He holds memberships in the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, American Medical Association, and other professional organizations. Dr. Romer has special interests in Neuroradiology and in Interventional Radiology and is involved in interpretation of CT, MRI, and MRA scans, duplex Doppler ultrasound examinations, diagnostic angiography, angioplasty, embolization procedures, biopsy and drainage procedures, venous access procedures and thrombolysis. He initiated intracranial thrombolysis for the treatment of acute stroke in Huntsville and is working to further develop this treatment in north Alabama.
