Experience
Dr. Austin Bourgeois earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. There, he trained under the leading pioneers of embolization therapies and aortic endovascular repair.
Since relocating to North Alabama in 2016, Dr. Bourgeois has focused his practice on minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. His clinical interests center on the treatment of liver tumors, enlarged prostates, uterine fibroids, and complex venous disorders. Dr. Bourgeois has published dozens of scientific manuscripts and book chapters on these topics, and is an invited lecturer both in the US and abroad. He also participates in medical device research and design, having served as an investigator on multiple clinical trials.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Bourgeois spends his free time with his wife Emily and their three children. His hobbies include golf, long-distance running, hunting, and fishing. He also embraces the lessons of perseverance that can only be taught by being a life-long Auburn football fan.
