Experience
Dr. Joel Lightner Jr. received his undergraduate degree at University of the South and Medical degree from Mercer University. He then attended Tulane School of Medicine for an internship in Medicine before traveling north to the University of Vermont for Diagnostic Radiology. As a second generation Radiologist, Dr. Lightner considered becoming a generalist but was offered the rare opportunity to complete a fellowship with Gilda Cardenosa, M.D., renowned Radiologist in the field of breast imaging. Immediately afterward, he spent four years practicing and teaching at the breast imaging department at University of South Alabama as the Director of Breast Imaging before joining Radiology of Huntsville.
